Crates on the concrete

Packhouse Citrus

Concrete, because wood floors rot under a wet crate.

The building was a garage. The floor stays cold until the door has been open an hour, which is why the fruit does not cook while it waits. I stack field crates two high. Three high and the bottom one bruises, and I can hear it when I set the next crate down.

Come to the side door. The front is a desk and a telephone that I do not always answer.
